Parents participated in a make-and-take activity. They were given supplies to complete their very own vision board!
Family Wellness Initiative held its third parent workshop on January 12, 2018 at Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare offices at 2720 Liberty Road with facilitators, Odette Iferika and Becky Parr. This workshop was attended by 3 parents from past parenting classes and 1 teen. The focus of the workshop was “New Year, New You!” We wanted to share some goal setting strategies with parents and guide them into making vision boards. Each attendant received a $10.00 IHOP gift card for filling out the post follow-up surveys from their parenting class. Additionally, a drawing was held for a basket filled with relaxation/pampering items.
Melissa May, MBA, CPT gave a presentation on SMART Goals and the importance of making your goals Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Resultsfocused, and Time-bound. Melissa was able to help a parent focus her specific goal to make it more attainable – big win! Due to low attendance, we decided to record the presentation to use with future workshops.
